Staying Motivated & Learning to Live the Dream

Staying motivated, especially when you work alone/for yourself can be difficult. We’re not all the type of person that’s constantly ‘go go go’, sometimes we have our days when it’s much harder to find the motivation to do what we need to do and that’s absolutely fine – as long as you know how to get back into the swing of things once that day has been and gone.

If you’ve been with us awhile you’ll know that Lara, the eldest of the Raybone siblings, was our first ‘digital nomad’ and now more than ever she is living her dream, travelling around the world constantly on these amazing adventures (if you haven’t already, go and check out our Instagram to stay up to date with said adventures etc.).

She will tell you how much her life has completely changed since opting for the digital nomads lifestyle, and although businesses and plans have been and gone there’s not much she would change because it’s what led her to this point.

“The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from encounters with new experiences.”

– Christopher McCandless (Alexander Supertramp)

Finding the motivation and, indeed, staying motivated is one of the things that meant she was able to get to this point. As I said earlier, it can be a struggle and when things aren’t going quite the way you want it’s easy to give up – but that wasn’t really an option. Had she given up she wouldn’t be at this point, and breaking through those difficult times teaches you all the lessons to help get you further towards your dream.

For Lara, and indeed the rest of us, the dream is and always has been to see and experience the world. We all adopted the travel bug pretty early on and it never went away. So when Dad presented this idea to us 6 or so years ago it seemed too good to be true, that we’d be able to set this up and for it to allow us complete indepence to do whatever and go wherever we wanted.

To a certain extent it was too good to be true, it was as easy as it sounded – probably because we all heard ‘travel the world and get paid doing so’ and got a bit carried away. It does take work and you do really need to apply yourself to get what you want from it, but my gosh does it all pay off in the end – as you can see from the life Lara now lives.

Staying motivated is something that is completely down to you in the end, it’s something that you have to act upon to make it work. Whether you find it in the form of quotes, or videos, or just people that are an inspiration to you (if you haven’t already, I would completely and utterly urge you to go and check out Will Smith’s YouTube channel – some amazing content with some great motivation), as long as you can identify those triggers, use them and act on them accordingly you should be well on your way.

Ultimately you have to look at your end goal. Why are you doing what you’re doing? Is this going to aid you getting to your goal? Do you want to travel the world, see and experience as much as possible? Do you want more freedom – either financial or time or both! What is it that you want, and how can you start doing things to get you there?

That’s what we want to help you with, getting you to your goal so you can live the life you’ve always wanted to – even if it isn’t the same as ours.
