Digital Nomad News; Our Next Adventure!

So we’ve got some new ‘digital nomad news’ for you all, which you may be aware of if you follow us on social media!

Hello everyone,

This is Ella (and Peter), we thought we’d do something a little bit different today and start a blog post before head out on our next trip. We thought it could be a good idea just to give you a bit of an insight into what we’re doing as prep and maybe some tips we have based off of our experience. Our next trip is going to be to New Zealand, and we fly out mid-April for about 5 weeks.

If any you’ve been there before we’d love to hear any recommendations you have on places to see, things to do etc.! Let us know in the comments!

If you ever aimlessly peruse the internet you may have come across the notion of untranslatable words; ideas that other cultures and languages have deemed necessary to assign a single word, where others do not. There are so many and they range from beautiful to wacky e.g. From “Forelsket” (Norwegian): The indescribable euphoria experienced as you begin to fall in love; To “Prozvonit” (Czech): To call someone’s cell phone only to have it ring once so that the other person has to call back, allowing the caller to not spend money on minutes.

Anyway, that may have seemed like an odd tangent but we wanted to bring your attention to the untranslatable word “Fernweh”. It’s a german word that describes a longing or a homesickness for a place you’ve never been to. In our case, we have fernweh for New Zealand. I think it was sparked in 2001 by the release of Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, the variety of mind blowingly beautiful landscapes was astounding, and we’ve been desperate to visit ever since. Another big bonus is that neither Peter nor I are particularly good at handling super hot weather, so visiting a country with a similar coolness to the UK is always a plus!

We’ve opted for the Kiwi Experience; a hop on, hop off, bus tour that explores both the north and south island seems like one of the best ways to get a feel for the whole country in the relatively short span of 5 weeks. It’s a similar trip to one our brother, Sam, a couple of years ago and so we have a rough idea but we’d love to find some new places that we can share with you. We’ll be starting off in Auckland and then we’ll be finding our way around the islands so…

If you have any top tips for any of these locations just let us know either in the comments or via social media! Don’t forget to follow us too to keep up with us on our adventure and anymore digital nomad news; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram..
